A note from the founder
The Thinking Behind It
Why AgentCX.com belongs in the PremiumBrands collection, and how a name becomes a building decision.
PremiumBrands exists because I buy names I would be willing to build on myself. I look for a name that lets a founder introduce a company with conviction, then keep using it as the product becomes more useful. AgentCX.com fits that test for customer-experience technology. I can see a company beginning with one well-defined service problem and carrying this name through the work that comes next.
The morning that stayed with me
In 2007, I acquired the press release distribution business running on i-Newswire.com. I secured iNewswire.com in 2013, then spent more than a year negotiating for Newswire.com. Before the move, I consulted SEO professionals about the change. In February 2015, the business began operating on Newswire.com. Those were decisions about an existing business and the way I wanted to introduce it.
The morning of the switch, a prospect told one of the sales agents, “Oh yeah, Newswire.com. I've heard of you guys.” That was impossible. I have remembered that conversation because the name gave the introduction a different starting point. It was short, pronounceable and directly related to the work. The team still had every part of the business to run, but we could introduce it under the name I had wanted.
In 2022, the business was acquired by Issuer Direct for about $44 million, as described in the acquisition reporting. That was a price for the business and the team's work, not for the domain. I keep that distinction close to the story. Years of decisions, people and execution sat behind the transaction. The naming decision mattered to me as a builder because it gave that work a clear identity.
Buying a name before the plan was ready
I bought PremiumBrands.com before I had a plan for it. I valued the name enough to act before all the details were settled. Waiting would probably have meant losing the opportunity: the name could now be with an end user building on it and most likely unavailable. I can work out a business plan over time. I cannot decide later that a particular name should still be there for me.
That is also why I question the fix-it-later mindset. Once a company has launched, its name is already in email addresses, account records, documents and the habits of the people using it. A change reaches all of those places. I would rather make the naming decision while those details are still being created, then spend the next stretch building something worth the name.
Why this one belongs in the collection
AgentCX brings together the people or software doing the work and the customer experience that work serves. In a service-technology conversation, I can explain that relationship in a sentence. The founder may begin with an AI support product, agent assistance or quality review. The company name can stay in place as the founder learns which problem deserves the next release.
What interests me most is the responsibility in the name. An agent is there to do a job for someone. CX keeps the customer present in that job. I would want a founder using AgentCX to be able to show the details: where an answer came from, when a person took over, and how a supervisor learned what needed improvement. Those are concrete things a team can build under a focused company identity.
My work around OnlineBusiness.com is supporting context for that outlook. I think about a name as an end user, asking whether I would build on it. The names I have not built on yet are the ones I am open to selling through PremiumBrands. With software becoming easier to create using AI, I pay more attention to the identity a founder can keep while the product evolves.
A great name won't save a bad business. I see the name as a head start that the founder earns through the product and the service behind it. If AgentCX.com is the name for that company, tell me what you want to build. If another name outside the collection is the one you want, PremiumBrands can help you pursue it. A premium .com is a trust shortcut.
